BREAKING: San Diego gay activist detained after Feb. 5 traffic stop, scheduled for deportation

We hear about it all too often: members of the LGBT community across the nation facing deportation because of federal crackdowns and laws like the Defense of Marriage Act that block paths to legal residency.

San Diego gay man, Allan Spyere, held in detainment for deportation.
Last year Denver’s Sujey Pando and later
Friends say Spyere has been an active and involved leader in the San Diego LGBT community, playing a crucial role in youth services in the city. He’s the current Emporer of the Imperial Court, and a San Diego City Council member Todd Gloria declared June 27 “Allan Spyere Day” last year in recognition of Spyere’s commitment to the LGBT community. Spyere is also a board member of the Harvey Milk foundation.
Friends and supporters have issued a call to action to fight for Spyere. They’ve posted a flurry of YouTube since news broke. One such video is here:
